Experian Loses Bid to Dismiss Suit Over Tapad Online Tracker

Experian Data Corp. largely failed to convince a federal court to dismiss a proposed class action alleging that the data broker and credit reporting company improperly monitors millions of Americans via an online tracker provided by subsidiary Tapad Inc.

The plaintiffs visited websites like Bon Appetit, Buzzfeed, and Zillow. There and across the internet, Experian collects data through cookies to produce comprehensive user profiles to sell to online advertisers as part of the real-time bidding process, they alleged in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
