Estée Lauder Settles Federal California Pixel Tracking Dispute

Estée Lauder Inc. settled a proposed California Invasion of Privacy Act class action accusing the cosmetics giant of violating the law by using tracking software from Google LLC and Meta Platforms Inc. on its website.

Plaintiff Taajudin Elmarouk told the US District Court for the Northern District of California that the online trackers contribute to numerous privacy harms that data brokers cause American consumers. The allegation is common in litigation over the trackers, which allow advertisers to target products to consumers based on their online activity.
