Edward Jones to Face White Worker’s Class Suit Over Equity Push

A former Edward D. Jones & Co. financial adviser can pursue as a class action his claim that the firm’s equity policy discriminates against White employees through an account-transfer program, a St. Louis federal judge ruled.

But Bryan Winter’s allegations that the policy is biased against straight men fell short, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri said Thursday. Winter sued only under 42 U.S.C. § 1981, which just prohibits race discrimination and doesn’t extend to sex and sexual orientation bias, the court said.
