Edison Utility Enters $82.5 Million Bobcat Fire Settlement (1)

Edison International’s Southern California utility agreed to pay $82.5 million to resolve US Forest Service claims over a 2020 fire in the Angeles National Forest.

Federal prosecutors said in a Friday news release it’s the largest wildfire cost-recovery agreement in the US District Court for the Central District of California.

The government alleged in a 2023 lawsuit Edison failed to maintain trees and one ignited when it hit a power line and fell. Edison didn’t admit wrongdoing or fault, according to the news release.
