Southern California Edison Sued by DOJ Over 2020 ‘Bobcat Fire’

Southern California Edison Co. failed to address a hazard posed by a tree that triggered a 115,000-acre fire that burned for more than two and a half months, the US Department of Justice alleged in a suit filed Friday.

SCE and Utility Tree Service LLC’s inaction led to the blaze sparked Sept. 6, 2020, in the San Gabriel Canyon in the Angeles National Forest, the lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California said.
