Driver Drops HMD Trucking Privacy Suit Over Face-Scan Collection

HMD Trucking Inc. escaped a proposed class action alleging it collected the face scans of truckers in violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act.

Lead plaintiff Floyd Eskridge and HMD filed a joint stipulation of dismissal Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The filing came six months after Judge Manish S. Shah denied the company’s motion to dismiss, finding that Eskridge adequately pleaded that the information collected by HMD was “biometric information” under the act.
