Costco Can’t Shake Suit Over PFAS Danger in Kirkland Baby Wipes

Consumers alleging Costco Wholesale Corp.'s Kirkland Signature Baby Wipes contain unsafe levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances can proceed with their suit after specifying which specific chemicals were in the product.

The US District Court for the Northern District of California denied Costco’s motion to dismiss Wednesday. Judge Richard Seeborg had previously dismissed the case because the consumers hadn’t identified which PFAS chemicals were in the wipes or in what quantity. The chemicals are known as “forever chemicals” because they don’t break down easily in nature or the human body.
