Cerner Loses Bid to Quickly Pause Google Info Sharing Query

Cerner Corp. failed to convince a federal Missouri judge to dismiss or transfer a proposed privacy class action alleging Cerner-designed patient portals divulged patient information to Google.

Judge Beth Phillips declined to apply the first-filed rule Thursday despite substantive similarities between the April 2025 case filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Missouri and a May 2023 federal Maryland dispute filed against MedStar Health and Cerner that is paused pending the result of a related state complaint against MedStar at an appellate court.
