Cerner Sued Over Google Information Sharing From Patient Portals

Health-information-technology provider Cerner Corp. disclosed patients’ health information to Google Inc. without their consent in violation of state and federal privacy laws, a proposed federal class action said.

Two anonymous plaintiffs alleged that Cerner incorporated Google’s tracking technology on patient portals Cerner provides to hospital systems and other health care providers, allowing Google to collect patients’ sensitive information and use it for advertising purposes.
