A former ByteDance Inc. engineering executive’s upcoming trial over whether he must arbitrate his wrongful termination dispute with the Chinese tech conglomerate will be delayed while the court resolves a new sanctions claim by the company.

ByteDance, owner of the popular TikTok app, is seeking court penalties against its former head of engineering in the US Yintao “Roger” Yu for allegedly fabricating witnesses and committing perjury with respect to the authenticity of various signed employment agreements.
