ByteDance Whistleblower to Get Trial Over Arbitration Agreements

A former ByteDance Inc. engineering executive who has criticized the company over its connections with the Chinese Communist Party will get a jury trial in his case claiming he never signed any arbitration agreements with the company.

Judge Susan Illston on Wednesday ruled that only a jury could determine whether Yintao “Roger” Yu, former head of engineering in the US for ByteDance, had signed employment documents requiring that he arbitrate any disputes with the TikTok Inc. parent.
