Boston National Grid Gas Leak Suit Given Partial Go-Ahead (1)

A federal magistrate Wednesday recommended dismissing portions of a citizen lawsuit over gas leaks in National Grid‘s metro Boston territory while green-lighting others, including a claim that the system’s disrepair violates a federal pipeline safety law.

The plaintiffs claimed National Grid’s leaking natural gas pipelines in their communities were causing environmental damage, killing public shade trees, exacerbating the urban heat island effect, and in some cases causing fires and explosions.
