March 14, 2025, 11:14 PM UTC

Arizona and Tucson Electric Power Co. filed a notice of settlement to resolve the state’s claims it’s entitled to costs Arizona incurred responding to hazardous substances at a landfill.

  • Tucson Electric will pay the state $90,713 under the agreement, the March 13 filing says
  • The agreement, which must be approved by the judge, doesn’t include an admission of liability by Tucson Electric, the filing says
  • The state sued earlier this year under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act and the Arizona Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund

Snell & Wilmer represented Tucson Electric.

The case is State of Ariz. v. Tucson Elec. Power Co., D. Ariz., No. 4:25-cv-00059, 3/14/25
