Apple Agrees to $20 Million Deal Resolving Battery Swell Claims

Apple Watch owners and Apple Inc. have inked a $20 million deal to end a proposed class action alleging certain early lines of the devices had defects that caused the watches’ batteries to swell and detach or crack the screen.

The non-reversionary settlement will go to owners of the First Generation, Series 1, Series 2, or Series 3 watches who reported issues with the battery swell, according to the settlement agreement and the plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary approval filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
