The federal government has agreed to give AmeriCorps grant recipients $185 million in federal funds that were withheld pursuant to the Trump administration’s steps to dismantle the agency.
Multiple lawsuits have been filed to stop the administration’s actions against the agency that assists volunteer organizations in the US. One by the attorneys general from 23 states challenged the abrupt cancellation of funding that had already been appropriated to help with such things as disaster relief.
In another suit, a federal court in California stopped AmeriCorps from trying to enforce President Donald Trump’s executive orders against diversity, equity, and inclusion.
