Amazon Settles Privacy Lawsuit Over Job Application Questions

Amazon.com Inc. agreed to settle a proposed class action alleging it required job applicants to disclose genetic information as a condition of employment in violation of the Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act.

The plaintiffs filed a stipulation of dismissal Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, three months after the parties indicated in a status report that they had reached a settlement. Judge John F. Kness previously denied Amazon’s motion to dismiss the suit in a March 2025 ruling.
