Amazon Job Seekers Advance Suit Over Medical History Questions

Amazon.com Inc. must face a proposed class action alleging it required job applicants to disclose genetic information as a condition of employment in violation of the Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act.

The lead plaintiffs adequately pleaded that the family-medical information they were required to provide was covered by GIPA, Judge John F. Kness of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said Monday.

Kness denied Amazon’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
