Walgreen, Founder’s Heir Agree to End Trademark Use Suit (1)

Walgreen Co. and the descendant of the company’s founder reached an agreement to end their trademark dispute over the heir’s firm Walgreen Health Solutions LLC.

The parties filed a joint motion for entry of a stipulated final judgment on Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The filing noted the parties have separately entered into a confidential settlement agreement.

The pharmacy chain sued the great-grandson of Walgreen’s founder in December 2023, accusing Charles R. Walgreen of diluting the “Walgreens” trademark by using it to sell products such as lotion and compression socks. The lawsuit was ...
