Under Sanction Threat, IP Edge-Linked Firm Flouts Judge’s Demand

An IP Edge-linked firm’s lawyer—having lost a bid to halt a judge’s litigation-finance probe—responded to threatened sanctions with a claim that Delaware’s chief judge “has no jurisdiction” because the Federal Circuit hasn’t formally returned the case to his court.

Judge Colm F. Connolly last week refused to withdraw his Nov. 30 opinion defending his “inherent authority” to carry out the investigation into who’s really funding four among a plethora of lawsuits clogging his court by companies that don’t practice the patents they wield.
