A US appeals court upheld a patent tribunal’s cancellations of claims from three Staton Techiya LLC patents covering “always-on” recording and personalized-hearing device technology.
The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in opinions issued Thursday, agreed with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s decisions in four inter partes reviews that US Patent Nos. 8,111,839, 9,124,982, and 9,609,424—owned through Staton Techiya subsidiary ST Case1Tech LLC—were unpatentable.
