An administrative patent tribunal threw out three patents covering wireless earbuds with charging cases, lending Samsung Electronics Co. an upper hand in a related infringement case in federal district court.
The Patent Trial and Appeal Board ruled Wednesday that GUI Global Products Ltd., which does business as Gwee, can’t keep US Patent Nos. 10,259,021,10,562,077, and 10,589,320 because they cover obvious inventions not eligible for protection.
