Samsung Accused of Infringing Patents With Earbud Chargers

A magnetic charging case for Samsung Electronics Co.‘s Galaxy Buds wireless earbuds allegedly infringes patents owned by a Texas company, according to a complaint filed Monday in federal court in Houston.

GUI Global Products Ltd., which does business as Gwee, told the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas that it makes a variety of products including earbuds, touchscreen cleaners, and exercise devices. It owns four patents covering “a portable switching device selectively and magnetically coupled to a portable electronic device.”
