Samsung, Techiya Settle Second Patent Suit Over Galaxy Products

Samsung Electronics Co. and Staton Techiya LLC settled a second patent lawsuit involving patents allegedly infringed by Samsung’s Galaxy products, ending a three-year legal fight.

The parties settled two pending lawsuits in the weeks after King & Spalding LLP withdrew from representing Techiya over unpaid bills, with the last suit dismissed with prejudice Thursday by the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Techiya’s complaints had alleged various Samsung products infringed several patents it owned, while Samsung accused Techiya, a unit of Staton Capital, of misappropriating trade secrets in order to bring the cases.
