Samsung Says Chinese Litigation Funder Misused Its Trade Secrets

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. told a Texas federal judge that an intellectual property law firm and a Chinese litigation funder used its confidential information without permission to help Staton Techiya LLC assert patent infringement allegations.

PV Law LLP and China-based PurpleVine IP Operating Co. Ltd. should be added to counterclaims alleging trade secret misappropriation, Samsung argued in a reply brief filed Monday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Techiya, a unit of Staton Capital, filed multiple lawsuits against Samsung starting in November 2021.
