S.C. Johnson Fends Off Patent Lawsuit Over Ziploc Containers

S.C. Johnson & Son Inc. defeated a lawsuit claiming its Ziploc Endurables container infringes a pair of patents owned by Zip Top Inc.

The Ziploc-branded product differs in a significant way from what’s described in Zip Top’s patents, Judge Jorge Alonso wrote in an opinion granting summary judgment for S.C. Johnson Thursday. ZipTop had alleged in its 2022 complaint the Endurables line competes with Zip Top’s own “line of endlessly reusable 100% platinum silicone containers that stand up, stay open and zip shut.”
