S.C. Johnson & Son Inc.'s Ziploc Endurables containers infringe two patents owned by Zip Top Inc., according to a new lawsuit.
The Ziploc products compete with Zip Top’s “line of endlessly reusable 100% platinum silicone containers that stand up, stay open and zip shut,” Zip Top wrote in its complaint filed Thursday in an Illinois federal court.
Zip Top’s U.S. Patent Nos. 11,358,755 and 11,383,890 cover a flexible and sealable food container, and a silicon molding process used to make it, respectively.
Zip Top is seeking triple the actual damages, claiming that S.C. Johnson willfully infringed the patents.
