Roku Defense Verdict in West Texas Patent Trial Upheld on Appeal

Roku Inc. convinced the Federal Circuit not to disturb a West Texas jury verdict clearing it of allegations it infringed a patent on screen mirroring.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed the verdict without opinion two days after a three-judge panel heard oral argument. Judges Jimmie V. Reyna, Raymond C. Clevenger III, and Todd M. Hughes signaled at the hearing that they weren’t swayed by patent owner MV3 Partners LLC’s arguments that the trial judge bungled claim construction.
