Panel Focuses on Timeliness of Unsealing Bid in Patent Appeal

A Federal Circuit panel repeatedly grilled an Electronic Frontier Foundation lawyer over whether the group waited too long to ask an East Texas federal court to unseal briefs filed by both sides in a patent-infringement lawsuit.

The group defended its effort to intervene in Entropic Communications LLC’s suit about four months after the patent owner reached a settlement deal with cable giant Charter Communications Inc.
