OpenAI Temporarily Blocked From Using ‘Cameo’ in Sora IP Lawsuit

A federal trial court judge temporarily blocked OpenAI Inc. from using the “cameo” name for a feature in its Sora video generator, a positive early signal for personalized video service Cameo’s trademark infringement lawsuit.

Judge Eumi K. Lee ordered OpenAI to stop using the “cameo” mark and confusing variations of the name for any Sora functionality until Dec. 22. The decision aligns with Lee’s comments at a Nov. 11 hearing when she said she was inclined to rule for the company Cameo.
