Judge Inclined to Ban OpenAI’s Use of ‘Cameo’ in Sora Suit (1)

A judge said she’s leaning toward temporarily blocking OpenAI Inc. from using the “cameo” name for its AI-powered video tool after Cameo, the personalized video service, accused the tech giant of trademark infringement.

Judge Eumi K. Lee began the Friday hearing in San Jose by saying she’s inclined to grant Cameo’s request for a temporary restraining order, and said “my inclinations are still the same,” after listening to an hour of the parties’ arguments. She didn’t rule from the bench but said she’d issue an order within a week, noting her mind could change as she looks through the briefs. ...
