Okta, Microsoft Drop Suits Against Cybersecurity Patent Owner

Okta Inc. and Microsoft Corp. dropped their dispute against patent owner Biogy Inc. in cases over the technology used in password protection systems.

Biogy agreed not to assert US Patent No. 7,669,236 against Okta, its subsidiaries, affiliates, customers, licensees, and distributors, according to Okta’s notice filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.

Microsoft filed a notice a day earlier, stating it was dismissing its case against Biogy and that each party will bear its own costs.

Both suits were closed by the court on Thursday.
