Ohio State, Overtime Sports Near Settling ‘O’ Trademark Dispute

Ohio State University and Overtime Sports Inc. have reached a settlement in principle in their dispute over Overtime’s use of a stylized “O” trademark, according to a filing in Brooklyn federal court.

Overtime is an “online and social media-based sports network” that focuses on “young, digital-native sports fans,” according to its complaint. It sued Ohio State last year seeking a judgment that it doesn’t infringe the university’s trademarks in the letter “O,” arguing its mark’s design differs and isn’t likely to cause confusion.
