Network-1 Loses Patent Ruling Trimming Claim from Ubiquiti Suit

Ubiquiti Inc. can’t be held liable for inducing customers to infringe a since-expired Network-1 Technologies Inc. patent for remotely powering network-connected devices using Ethernet cables, a federal judge ruled.

Judge Maryellen Noreika granted Ubiquiti’s partial motion for summary judgment of no indirect infringement of US Patent No. 6,218,930 because Ubiquiti “had no pre-suit knowledge” of the patent or its infringement, according to an opinion issued Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
