Netflix Defeats ‘Panama Papers’ Law Firm’s Trademark Claims

Netflix Inc. escaped “Panama Papers” law firm Mossack Fonseca & Co.'s trademark dilution and false advertising claims over its portrayal in the 2019 Steven Soderbergh film “The Laundromat,” according to a federal opinion docketed in Los Angeles Monday.

Netflix defeated Mossack Fonseca’s related libel and false light privacy claims on Dec. 23, and Judge Consuelo B. Marshall’s new ruling closes the case. The decision was also dated Dec. 23, but it was entered on the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California’s docket Monday.
