Netflix Beats False Light Case Filed by ‘Panama Papers’ Law Firm

Netflix Inc. convinced a federal judge in California Wednesday to ditch false light and libel claims brought by Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca & Co. S.A. related to the media group’s 2019 film “The Laundromat.”

Judge Consuelo B. Marshall at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California dismissed the law firm’s complaint against Netflix pursuant to the state’s anti-SLAPP law governing freedom of speech.
