Netflix Bid to Ship Broadcom Patent Suit From Texas Rebuffed

Netflix Inc. must face a patent suit from Broadcom’s CA Inc. in the Eastern District of Texas because it has a place of business there, a federal judge confirmed, adopting a report the streaming service said clashes with Supreme Court precedent.

A U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas magistrate judge last month recommended Netflix’s motion to dismiss for improper venue be denied. The judge said Netflix servers are a place of business in the district, and the company partnered with internet service providers that act as its agents.
