Motive Moves Samsara’s Fleet Tech Patent Suit to California (1)

Motive Technologies Inc. convinced a Delaware federal judge to move to California Samsara Inc.’s lawsuit accusing it of infringing a patent and using unethical business practices to acquire AI-based camera technology.

The California-based companies are both incorporated in Delaware but Samsara didn’t allege Motive committed any acts in the court’s jurisdiction, according to a memorandum opinion filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. Judge Maryellen Noreika granted Motive’s motion to transfer, stating California is home to employee witnesses and a related dispute between the companies.
