Meta Urges Court to Axe Mike Huckabee’s Suit Over Fake CBD Ads

Meta Platforms Inc. asked a federal judge to throw out former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee’s lawsuit accusing the tech giant of falsely identifying him as a consumer of CBD gummies.

Meta is protected from liability for its third parties’ allegedly unauthorized use of Huckabee’s name and photograph in ads on Facebook promoting cannabidiol products, the company said in a memo accompanying its motion to dismiss filed Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. Huckabee even acknowledged in his complaint the company “played no role” in the ads’ content, Meta said.
