Meta Ordered to Produce More Documents in Authors’ AI Lawsuit

Authors accusing Meta Platforms Inc. of copyright infringement over its downloading of their works to train its generative AI models can obtain more discovery from the tech giant, a judge ordered days after expressing skepticism over the request.

Judge Vince Chhabria signed off on the authors’ request for two depositions and a search of Meta’s centralized database, file-sharing records, and other information in a Thursday order in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
