Mattel Wants Toy Truck Trademark Suit Dismissed

Mattel, Inc. wants a federal court to dismiss a trademark infringement and breach of contract lawsuit brought over competing monster truck toy designs.

Feld Motor Sports, Inc. and Mattel had a long-running business relationship until 2018, when FMS didn’t renew the license agreement that allowed Mattel to manufacture and distribute Monster Jam-branded toy trucks. FMS claims Mattel tried to punish it by distributing less stock to retailers in violation of their contract, which allegedly caused lower sales, and by ripping off its toy designs on new Hot Wheels toy truck designs.
