Library, Property Risk Firm End Copyright Suit Over Sanborn Maps

Environmental risk assessment company ERIS Information Inc. and the Sanborn Library dropped a six-year-old copyright suit over land-use maps.

The US District Court for the Southern District of New York closed the case Wednesday, a day after the parties announced their intention to voluntarily end the proceeding.

The library in 2019 accused ERIS of infringement for removing copyright management information from its maps and including them in reports for clients. The parties’ Tuesday joint stipulation of dismissal stated they’d agreed to drop their respective claims and counterclaims, with each side bearing their own costs and attorneys’ fees.
