Use of Sanborn Maps Allegedly Infringes Library’s Copyrights (1)

An environmental risk assessment company infringes copyrights by copying historical Sanborn Maps, a new complaint in the Southern District of New York alleges.

ERIS Information Inc. allegedly infringes the Sanborn Library’s copyrights by removing copyright management information from the maps and including them in its reports.

The company disputes the suit’s allegations.

“For a number of reasons, we strongly believe that this is a frivolous, without merit lawsuit designed to harass and create confusion,” Carol Le Noury, the president of ERIS, said in a statement.
