LG Owes Maxell, Mondis $14 Million in Plug-and-Play Retrial Loss

LG Electronics Inc. must pay Maxell Ltd. and Mondis Technology Ltd. $14.3 million because certain of its televisions infringe a patent related to “plug-and-play” video technology, a federal jury in New Jersey said.

Jurors reached their decision the day after the damages retrial began, according to a verdict issued Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. They awarded about $30 million less than jurors did during the first trial in the case, which was launched in 2015.
