Lenovo Added to Trade Commission’s Mobile Phone Patent Probe

The US International Trade Commission has launched an expanded investigation into consumer electronics company Maxell Ltd.'s claims that certain imported mobile devices infringe six of its patents, adding Chinese technology giant Lenovo Group Ltd. alongside its American subsidiary Motorola Mobility LLC to the companies targeted in the probe.

The ITC—which has already been looking into whether products including the Moto G Power, Moto G Stylus, Motorola Edge, Moto E, Razr, and Motorola One infringe Maxell’s patents—said Tuesday that it will also take into account Lenovo’s broader business activity in the US.
