Maxell Bid to Block Lenovo’s Motorola Smartphones Gets ITC Probe

The U.S. International Trade Commission has instituted an investigation based on patent-infringement claims filed by Maxell Ltd. in March over Lenovo Group Ltd.’s most recent Motorola-branded smartphones, which it alleges infringe six patents related to various structures and features.

The trade agency announced the probe Thursday in Washington. Maxell seeks a permanent limited exclusion order that would bar imports of at least 20 Lenovo products, including versions of the Moto G Power, Moto G Stylus, Motorola Edge, Moto E, Razr, and Motorola One, according to the complaint.
