A judge in Los Angles granted a retrial of an infringement case involving patents for 3D railroad track assessment, saying the verdict was marred by attorney misconduct.
A jury in August 2022 delivered a complete win to Pavemetrics Systems Inc., which had sued seeking a declaration that it hadn’t infringed two patents owned by Tetra Tech Inc. and that the patents were invalid.
Before that, Tetra Tech, an engineering services company, threatened to sue Pavemetrics over a laser rail inspection system that allegedly infringed Tetra Tech-owned US Patents Nos. 10,362,293 and 10,616,557.
