Kia, Hyundai Early Wins in Knockoff-Lights Spat Get Scrutiny (1)

Kia Corp. and Hyundai Motor Co. hit a roadblock in their quest to ban imports of knockoff taillights and headlights sold by TYC Brother Industrial Co. and LKQ Corp. after the US International Trade Commission said Wednesday it will review a judge’s domestic industry findings.

Kia and Hyundai filed near identical complaints in December at the trade agency claiming aftermarket taillights and headlights sold by TYC and its Genera Corp. unit, and by LKQ and its Keystone Automotive Industries Inc. unit, infringe at least 20 design patents.
