Kia Accused of Infringing Navigation System Tech Patents (1)

A Delaware-based patent holder sued Kia Corp. and its US subsidiary Tuesday for allegedly using automotive technology in their navigation and infotainment systems without permission.

Driving Innovation LLC’s suit filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas mirrors one the company filed earlier in the month against Toyota for allegedly infringing the same four patents.

Like that case, the complaint against Kia accuses the Korean car maker of infringing four patents originally developed by Mitsubishi: US Patent Nos. 7,454,545, 7,822,613, 7,890,255, and 8,467,962. The patents cover cellular phone-based user authentication systems, voice ...
