Judge Affirms American Airlines’ $9 Million Copyright Verdict

A Texas federal judge upheld a $9.4 million jury award for American Airlines Inc. in its copyright lawsuit against airfare search engine Skiplagged Inc.

Judge Mark T. Pittman granted American Airlines’ motion to enter the jury’s $23.7 million award but declined to toss the jury’s finding that American failed to mitigate $14.3 million in damages. Pittman affirmed the jury’s decision to cut the award to $9.4 million, according to an opinion issued Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
