Intuit Knocks Out Two Web Browser Patents in TurboTax Lawsuit

Intuit Inc. convinced an administrative tribunal to invalidate two shareable web browser patents it’s accused of infringing via its TurboTax Online and QuickBooks products.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board canceled all of Samesurf Inc.'s claims in US Patent Nos. 9,185,145 and 8,527,591 because previous patent applications rendered them obvious, according to two decisions issued Tuesday. But Intuit failed to prove US Patent No. 9,483,448 is invalid, the board said.
